Family travel and adventure got you interested? Then this two night Family Adventure is filled with fun and activities for the whole family.  It is a unique eco-experience incorporating nature activities on the property and with the Tenikwa staff, and comfortable accommodation in family suites.

Arrive at 16h00 for Welcome, Orientation, Ground Rules and Check-in.

Dinner tonight (weather permitting) is a traditional Boma Dinner.  Don’t expect to be served, dinner making is a combined family effort. Learn how to make Stokbrood, Sosaties and delicious sweet treats on the coals of the fire.

After dinner and enjoying the stars, retire to your family suite which is comfortably furnished to 3-star standards.

Breakfast in the morning is at Chesters Coffee Shop, afterwhich you will be met by your guide for the day to take you on an Eco-kidz Family Challenge. During the course of this program, we introduce core elements of conservation using our EcoKidz booklet which has all sorts of quizzes and questions to answer. A Pledge to live the EcoKidz principles and a certificate completes the program. This is followed by a workshop on how to track, identify and make your own spoor cast.

After lunch which will also be provided at Chesters, the family will learn about how important enrichment is to keep the Tenikwa Cats happy and healthy and you will partake in an enrichment exercise which is not only fun for the cats but is something that you can introduce with your pets at home.  Its now time to see how your spoor-making efforts have turned out, and hopefully you will have a perfectly set spoor cast and reminder of the day to take home with you.

It’s now time to assist the busy animal keepers with the preparation of food for the afternoon feed. Learn about how we ensure that our animals get a nutritious and species-appropriate diet. Although you will not actually be feeding the animals, you will accompany the animal keepers and the extra set of hands to assist will be greatly appreciated by the dedicated staff.

After a very busy day, you will have some time to catch your breath in the gardens surrounding the family suites where you can enjoy the sunset, as the lions roaring welcomes the end of the day.

But soon, as the sky darkens, you will be called and prepped for the Forest Experience.  Donning headlamps, we head out into the forest on a nature expedition to see what we can find in terms of the awakening nightlife, and things that go “bump” in the night. Upon return, it is Pizza Challenge Time before heading back to the suites for a well-deserved evening’s rest.

Breakfast is served at Chesters where the staff seem like old friends by now, and then it is time for a quick shop for momentoes of your two days at Tenikwa before saying farewell.
