”Come see our wild cats and help us to help your school” , is a campaign that was launched on the 13th of July 2019 at Plettenberg Primary School with the core objective of trying to instill empathy towards wildlife in children through discounting conservation based tours. Our mantra is ,” take care of the earth and she will take care of you” . The gate takings collected will help fund our wildlife rehabilitation hospital and 10% will go towards a nominated school project.
We are looking forward to go beyond the boarders of Western Cape province reaching out so that every child in school will have a chance to see the Indigenous wild cats of South Africa whilst also contributing to the development of their school.
TheĀ Ecokidz Family Challenge Tour is the most popular with ages 6 to 12 years. Children will go back home “eco-wise” after being nourished with fascinating facts about the wild cats and good environmental practices such as recovering, re-use and recycling. This family program has a short certificate ceremony that is held after the child proudly pledges to become an eco warrior and help protect all things wild and wonderful and to take care of animal spaces and habitats. An eco kid also shares the knowledge that would have been gained and help others to understand.
School children are also welcome together with their parents to do a tour of their choice at a discounted rate for a good cause as these gate takings are what keeps our Rehabilitation hospital going. Lions, cheetahs, leopard, servals, african wild cats and caracalsĀ are some of the many different animals you will get to see.
