We took the 75 minute tour. Our guide was Ash. He was a brilliant host. We watched an introductory video and were then taken on the tour. You walk through areas where the cats are out in the open and you can get close , such as with the cheetahs. We saw the lions from an observation point. Ash was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We took some great photos and considered the whole experience well worth it and great value for money.

Amazing wildcat experience

We had a guided tour that lasted about 1 1/2 hours. We were very impressed with the guide that took us around, he was clearly very passionate about his work and eager to answer any of our questions. Well worth a visit!

Very informative visit

We really enjoyed our private tour at Tenikwa. We were assigned Mthobisi as our guide, and not only was he knowledgable and friendly, but most importantly displayed a sincere love for the parks’ animals. This park seems to take conservation very seriously and are don’t exploit the animals to turn a buck. Definitely recommended if you’re in the area.

Very enjoyable.

We have just returned from an action packed 17 days in South Africa and were both fortunate and privileged to visit Tenikwa. We were given an extremely informative and exciting tour of the centre by Mthobisi, who was clearly very committed to the preservation of the African wildlife and gave us the opportunity to go in with Servals and a Cheetah – indescribable feeling getting so close to these beautiful animals. I would urge everyone to visit the centre which not only provides important employment for dedicated local people, but offers animal protection and importantly education to preserve these creatures for future generations. Please go and see them, they need all the help we can give them and you will leave on an amazing high!

Don’t miss this one!

A key highlight of our visit on the Garden Route was Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness centre. A wonderful half day spending time with an array of wild cats including Cheetahs,Lions and Caracals. The key to bringing the whole experience alive was the very much informed and exemplary services of our guide Mthobisi who shows a deep love for the animals at the centre, with his articulate and expansive answers to our many questions. A great place for a family visit and highly recommend to travellers to the area.

Saving Wildcats

In a world where we are losing a lot of our wild animals. It’s good to know places like Tenikwa exist. Animal rehabilitation, community involvement, conservation & advice. It’s all here. It’s a 15-20 drive out of Plettenberg on the N2.
There is something for everyone here. You can get up close to some very big & beautiful wild animals here, (if they cooperate?) Big cats, little cats, warthogs, big birds, little birds & cheeky meerkats to name but a few.
This place can & is such an eye opener. The staff are very informative & knowledgeable without feeling lectured. Our guide ‘Mthobisi’ was & is very accommodating & doesn’t rush you through. You can take your time. You can spend as much or as little as you like. Tours can be just over an hours or you can spend all day, up to you. We found the 2 hour tour OK.
Afterwards there is a cafe, even a small playground or the little ones if traveling with a family. I would recommend you stop by & take a look yourself. We need places like this for the next generation to see such beautiful animals like these at Tenikwa.

Thank you to everyone for a very interesting afternoon.

Outstanding Visit

My husband and I did the Crazy Cat Day on the 21/5/18. Our guide, Sizwe Harnely was so informative and made our day so enjoyable and memorable. It made us so aware of Lion Exploitation and how they don’t turn any animal away that may need rehabilitation. All the staff made us feel so welcome, sharing how they look after these beautiful animals, and the love they all have for each animal that enters the rehabilitation centre. We were treated like royalty, and the breakfast and lunch was outstanding. It was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had, and have such wonderful memories that I will always cherish. I would like to give a big thank you to the staff for all the care and love they give to these gorgeous animals.

OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD AT TENIKWA

During a drive down the Garden Route my wife and I took the opportunity to spend the day here on the Cats Conservation Tour. Well worth the time to see what is being done at Tenikwa to help rehabilitate a wide range of wildlife, not just cats. Boniwe did a great job showing us round the rehabilitation area and explaining how they treat injured animals that are brought to them. In many cases they take care to minimise human interaction in order that they may be re-released into the wild.
Mfundo then took us on a photographic tour of the facilities, something I had specifically asked about. For various reasons the animals viewed here could not be released but action was taken to ensure they had a chance to lead an active life rather than being stuck in a pen. We had the chance to see this with the lions. We also had the chance to enter the areas with many of the animals, though clearly not all.One of the highlights of the day was seeing one of the cheetahs on a its daily enrichment walk.

On top of the excellent tours refreshments and lunch were excellent.
Well worth a visit and great work being done here.

Great day at a fantastic venue doing important work

I recently took the Cats in Conservation Tour at Tenikwa and found it to be one of the most incredible, eye opening and humbling experiences of my life.
The professionally run facilities there are run by a collection of people who not only have a deep knowledge of animals, but also a love and passion for them that makes their dedication to what they do at the center really quite humbling to witness.
We were lucky enough to see all of the big cats up close as well as take part in the enrichment program for Cheetahs which for me, as Cheetahs are my favourite wild animal, was particularly special.
At the end of the day we then took a fynbos forest walk and we had encounters with one of the Cheetahs on its daily walk/exercise and this opportunity to see the animal as close to its natural behaviour and habitat as it could be was fantastic. The efforts that go into keeping the incredible animals at Tenikwa happy whether they are there for rehabilitation or there to enjoy the rest of their lives of they cannot be released back to the wild are truly amazing.
I’d like to offer my thanks to all the staff there who made our day such a great experience, with special thanks to Charlie, Paul and Sizwe for sharing their huge knowledge and love of the animals with us.
We will certainly return again and are already counting down the days until we can!
I certainly recommend Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Center to anybody wishing to open their eyes and mind the amazing animals and work that goes into their well being.
Keep up the amazing work

Incredible experience

A fantastic place to visit for both adults and kids. You get up close and personal with the animals and the Kids Eco tour we did was brilliant. We have a 3 and 5 year old and they were enthralled the whole time, we were even allowed in the enclosure with the Servals! I don’t think our kids will ever forget it and I certainly won’t, the highlight being when one of the Servals decided to rub up against me, it was mind blowing. Our guide Mthobisi was great with the kids, very knowledgable and answered any questions we had.

I can’t recommend it enough!

Fantastic. A real intimate experience with the animals.
